Best areas in the UK to take a holiday

By Benny Holes

Few UK holiday destinations have as much to offer as the Snowdonia National Park of Wales. Here you will find the highest mountain peak in England and Wales and possibly the most dramatic coastline, attractive villages and quaint Wales cottages around.

This area has long been a stronghold of the Welsh language and links with its ancient past are still very evident. North Wales in particular has a history and culture all its own. From mythical tales of the Mabinogion to the red dragon on the national flag, when you visit this part of Wales, you really feel you are visiting a country within a country. What better way to make the most of your time here than by choosing to stay in one of the many lovely holiday cottages Snowdonia has to offer.

When visiting Wales, tourists can be assured of a 'croeso cynnes' or 'warm welcome'. Come along in the summertime and blue sea, sandy beaches and green mountains await. Visit in the wintertime and enjoy cosy pubs with crackling log fires, snow-covered mountains and sightseeing from the comfort of an old-fashioned steam train.

Whether rambling, climbing or relaxing, Snowdonia is the perfect holiday destination. Why not try white-water canoeing down a Welsh river, some off-road driving, high speed karting or a high-rise adventure in the forest? The coastline of this region offers yet more opportunities to have fun. Swimming, walking, diving and sailing are just some of the activities on offer.

Welsh cottages available for holiday rental are to be found all over this charming rural area. From a cosy village location, a little place in town or even a shepherd's cottage half-way up a mountain - the choice is yours.

Although holiday cottages in Snowdonia represent the ideal rural getaway, you're never too far from civilisation. When you arrive at many Welsh cottages, you will often find a welcome pack of groceries, basket of logs and some helpful information on where to go and what to see and do. Don't worry about the language, our road-signs are bi-lingual and so are we!

With excellent road links along the North Wales coast, convenient local transport and even a small airport, this region is very well-connected and the majority of Welsh cottages are easily accessible. The nearby city of Bangor and Victorian seaside resort of Llandudno offer plenty of shopping opportunities, galleries and interesting alternatives if the weather closes in.

There is a wide choice of attractions and activities available here, including castles, cinemas, leisure centres, zoos and farms. All are within easy reach of the holiday cottage Snowdonia has available. Traditional pubs and intimate restaurants are to be found in many Welsh villages. Rest assured that the food is always as warm as the welcome.
