For those seeking a holiday of rest and relaxation, there are still some activities in which to participate. Those with an appreciation of art or history, can tour the local art galleries and museums. Sitting by a lake fishing, or reading on a deck can provide hours of peaceful activity. Painting the local scenery or characters, may be an artists holiday desire.

For an adventure based holiday, activities on the coast could include surfing, sailing or kayaking. When the adventurous prefer the mountains and lakes, climbing, caving and paddling a canoe might be easily reached from a cottage. Horse riding and walking could also be enjoyable activities.
